The training program will be conducted by teachers from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and Universidad Complutense de Madrid and are aimed at undergraduates, graduates, and professionals from Spain, Argentina and Latin America. It includes a wide range of courses in different areas such as communication, statistics, political sciences, mediation, health, economics, environment, psychology and library science, among others.

The opening ceremony took place on February 19 at the Faculty of Dentistry Auditorium and was attended by UNC Rector, Hugo Juri;  UCM Vice-Rector of International Affairs and Cooperation, Isabel Duran; UNC Deputy Secretary of International Relations, Mirian Carballo and Latin American Complutense School Director, María Ángeles López Fernández Cao, among other university authorities. Students from different Latin American and European countries that will attend the courses were also at the venue.

At the event, Rector Juri highlighted the great importance of working in collaboration with different higher education institutions with the main objective of improving the quality of their students´education. In this regard, he pointed out that the courses are conducted again in Córdoba together with Universidad Complutense de Madrid, “one of the better qualified institutions in Europe and with whom we are working on the organization and celebrations that will take place this year due to the University Reform´s centenary.”

Deputy Secretary Carballo commented on the importance of developing joint activities between universities that provide teachers and students the possibility of participating in an intercultural experience. She also mentioned the possibility of carrying on with these kind of activities - joint international courses- through a virtual environment.

Vice-Rector Durán stated that the courses are part of an “internationalization strategy from Universidad Complutense and its interest in becoming an education model in Latin America.” As for Director López Fernández Cao, she highlighted the academic level of the training proposal and valued it as an instance from which many research networks and future projects between both institutions´ teachers may arise. In this sense, she stated that these courses work as a meeting point between students from Europe and Latin America, between whom “bonds that go beyond the academic aspect are created."
